Theresa Flavin is an active advocate and activist for the human rights and dignity of older people, including people living with dementia. Theresa lives with younger onset dementia, and works in partnership with multiple organisations including OPAN, Dementia Australia and Dementia Alliance International to provide the direct voice of living experience. Theresa’s scope of work ranges from formal submissions, participatory research, peer reviewed national and international journal articles to attending the UN Open Ended Working Group on Ageing, to put forward the potential positive impact of an International Treaty on people living with dementia both in Australia and worldwide. Prior to her dementia diagnosis, Theresa worked in a regulatory environment, with particular focus on risk management in the Superannuation and Insurance context.
